Fictional trading cards and poster
Card designs and a promotional poster for a fictional trading card game created using hand-made assets.
The card illustrations were created in PaintTool SAI and Adobe Photoshop, the element and creature icons were created in Adobe Illustrator, and the layouts for the cards and poster were created using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.

Process
Clash of the Elements takes a very art-focused approach to card design. Flashy and colorful artwork decorates both the front and backs of each card, with the general brand palette invoking mystery and intrigue.
The elemental symbols focus on the concept of opposing forces that also intertwine with each other. Details such as geometric/organic shapes and reoccurring shapes (circle/oval, diamond/star) can be seen on both sides of the wheel. The card illustrations were created based off of the element symbols, with the creatures and background environments relating strongly to the element they are assigned.
The creature symbols were designed to be geometric and recognizable. Simple shapes and use of white space create creatures like a hydra, dragon, phoenix, and griffon. The ten symbols were created in pairs of two, with each pair sharing the same base shape.
